Finally, the wait is over. All episodes of the much-anticipated Criminal Justice Season 4 are now streaming on Jiohotstar. But was it worth the wait? Let’s find out.

Storyline
When the maid enters the apartment through an already open door, she finds Dr. Raj on the floor, clinging to the body of his murdered girlfriend Roshni. There’s blood all over his hands and the floor. His estranged wife Anju, who lives on the same floor, rushes in and soon calls the police. Dr. Raj is arrested as the accused. Anju then turns to lawyer Madhav Mishra to defend her husband.
Can Madhav Mishra prove his innocence? And more importantly, will the real killer be caught?
Our critique
The story is gripping from the very beginning, drawing you into a maze of clues and red herrings as you try to guess the culprit and their motive. The police investigation and the defence’s research keep the narrative tight and engaging, right up to the unexpected twist in the end. The writing and direction are excellent, while the music and cinematography complement the tense atmosphere well.
A couple of drawbacks — Madhav Mishra’s character feels more casual this season compared to the earlier, more focused and sincere self. It’s a bit hard to digest. Also, the subplot involving his wife and brother-in-law, and some of their antics, feels distracting and unnecessary. Another letdown is the weekly episode release format, which breaks the momentum; this is a show best binged in a day or two.
Screen Performances
Pankaj Tripathi once again delivers as the grounded and sharp-witted Madhav Mishra. Surveen Chawla shines as Anju, portraying both strength and vulnerability as a wife and mother. Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub convincingly brings out the confusion and helplessness of Dr. Raj. Asha Negi is impactful as Roshni, effectively capturing her desperation and emotional turmoil. The supporting cast also does a good job.
Overall opinion
Watch it for the gripping plot, the big twist, and Surveen Chawla’s standout performance.
