Mitti – Ek Nayi Pehchaan is a web series currently streaming on MX Player. Written by Nikhil Sachan and directed by Alok Kumar Dwivedi and Gaganjeet Singh, it explores the emotional journey of a successful executive torn between his fast-paced urban life and his rural roots. But is it worth your time? Let’s find out.

Storyline
A well-settled young man returns to his ancestral village for a family ritual. Overcome with emotion, he decides to extend his stay and requests more time off from work. He bonds with a couple of locals who are eager to move to the city and soon finds himself trying to spark a rural revolution using modern agricultural methods—supported by an educated woman from the government sector. Along the way, he participates in a traditional sport—gets beaten at first, then wins. He decides to quit, then reconsiders… over-stays again. Sounds familiar? Yes, but this isn’t Swades.
There are some notable differences. Raghav spent his childhood in Dol Chhapra with his grandparents. After his grandfather’s death—who had taken a hefty loan in a failed attempt to transform farming with modern techniques—Raghav tries to fulfill that dream and repay the debt. Meanwhile, he has a live-in girlfriend, Stuti, back in the city. The educated woman supporting him is Kritika, a senior official in the Agriculture Department.
Armed with a decent bank balance, loyal friends, the support of Kritika, and some inner resolve—can Raghav complete his mission and return to his urban life?
Our critique
The narrative has its heart in the right place and delivers several emotional highs. It raises pertinent questions about the state of Indian farmers. The writing and direction are solid for the most part, although some farming-related elements seem a bit simplistic or unconvincing. The music and cinematography add depth and complement the tone well.
Screen Performances
Ishwak Singh delivers yet another sincere and grounded performance as Raghav. Piyush Kumar as Mahoo and Pranjal Pateriya as Baiju add humor and warmth. Diksha Juneja as Stuti is adequate, while Shruti Sharma stands out as Kritika. Yogendra Tiku is convincing in the role of the grandfather.
Overall opinion
With several touching moments, despite the flaws, Mitti – Ek Nayi Pehchaan is definitely worth a try!
